EC: The Apothecary 0.4 - Log #1


Progress on the 0.4 update is advancing by the day. The dialogue and scenes are written and I'm heavy into blocking and imaging for the release, as you can see in the shared sneak peeks. It is about 60% completed for image creation, and is already north of 1200 images. I do use sprites to keep the bloat down somewhat, so that 1200 does include sprite images. At least five new 'maps' are in the 0.4 update, indicating an expansion of the story and game world.

There will also be some slight but noticeable differences in 0.4 images compared to earlier releases as I've learned a bit more about lighting, shading, and adjusting textures. This has always been a learning experience first and foremost, so some techniques are going to be added as time goes on while others are going to be saved for future projects.

After image generation I will begin with the animations, which I think number somewhere in the 30-40 range? I'm not sure exactly. From there, it is on to assembly and GUI adjustments, mainly in the Journal, before we get to alpha testing. I'm still expecting a mid-December alpha timeframe with a late-December or early-January release for 0.4.

Thank you. I'm expecting a Patreon release just before the beginning of 2023 with a public release a little afterwards.

Current size of update is 2000+ images, 43 counted scenes (and a few others not counting to the total), and somewhere between 60 and 65 animations. Right now I'm finishing up the last of the rough animations.
